You might be surprised what vital info you could unearth from a simple background check, sometimes even without digging too deep. A claimant once declared himself fit for an advertised security job because of a stint in law enforcement. Wish someone would have made it clear from the start which side of law enforcement it was right to be on he was an ex-con. The present and the future are one thing, the past is something else altogether. Due to torrid events in their past, many ex-criminals desire to go straight, but few people would give them the chance. So they lie on their applications and hope nobody finds out. Unfortunately, background checks eventually become their undoing. Lifes lessons are numerous, and it would take a truly ignorant person to not pay attention to what lessons there are to learn. If someone were to take on new staff without some background investigation, for instance, they would be leaving themselves wide open for a hostile takeover. This in fact might be the least of their problems, if in the course of events, the person just brought in ended up causing the business owner to be arrested or something worse. Some say ignorance is bliss; others say knowledge is power. I say simply, that ignorance is one very expensive way to live blissfully. Picture being blissfully unaware that the manager you just employed is siphoning millions out of the company account. To think you could have been empowered by the knowledge you garnered of his criminal background through a simple background check. Bliss indeed! You could be lucky to employ some new guy, and he would be all you ever dreamt of. Then again, you could be so unlucky; this fellow could turn out to be the devil of your nightmares. There just is no way of making absolutely sure without doing a background check on the chap. You cant base all of your assumptions on outward appearances.
